3 simple steps.

1. Fill in Preferences

3. Track the device from another phone, Google Voice, IM or Web just in case your device gets lost, stolen or misplaced

User Interface

• Activation Tab - For Managing Service and Active Alerts

• Run Service – Allows to Start/Stop the Ping2Locate Service

• Toggle the Service Active/Inactive button to stop/start the service

• Manage Active Alert – Allows to End Active alerts

• Push the “End Alert” button to terminate all active alerts. Note, this button is enabled only when there are active alerts.

Application Security

• Password Protected – Check this box for enabling password protection for the Ping2Locate app.

• Application Password – Set the password in the ‘Protection password’ text box. Next time you log in, your password will be validated against this entry.

User Triggers

• Key Phrase – Ping2Locate allows the user to send in key phrases via SMS or IM to remote invoke location tracking of a lost/stolen/misplaced device.

For instance, let’s say, you set a kephrase “pinecheese” in the ‘Key Phrase’ textbox. Later when you want to track your device on demand, you could either send a SMS from any mobile phone or an IM that contains the kyphrase.  For more details see User Guide (PDF)

It could be a stealth message, something like

• “Hey, how about dinner at our usual pinecheese place?” or

• Just the one worder “pincheese” or

• A sentence of your choice in the IM/SMS body containing the kephrase you set in the preferences.

• SMS - Ping2Locate allows remote tracking via its SMS Feature. User can send an SMS pings from any mobile phone or Google Voice or internet with the key phrase in the body of the SMS and get back the crucial current location of the device along with key device parameters. See User Guide (PDF) for a list of SMS response parameters. The following preferences can be set by the user to control SMS Requests, SMS Responses and SMS Notifications.

• Activate via SMS – Check this option to allow remote tracking via SMS

• Response to SMS – This option is checked by default. This allows SMS responses to be received to the same device that will be used by the user to send SMS containing the key phrase to the lost/stolen/misplaced device

• Notification Phone Number – Enter the phone number of your friend or another alternate phone that will be used to receive SMS messages containing Location information and other device parameters. SMS Notifications are received only under 2 circumstances:

1. System Triggers (see System trigger section)

2. GTalk/Jabber User Triggers (See GTalk/Jabber section)

Here are all possible combinations of Responses triggered from SMS.

GTalk/Jabber  - Ping2Locate allows remote tracking via its GTalk/Jabber IM Feature. With this feature, the user can send an IM pings from any Jabber client on another mobile phone or on a desktop or from any browser.  The user can send the key phrase in the body of the IM and get back the crucial current location of the device along with key device parameters. See User Guide (PDF) for a list of IM  response parameters.

The following preferences can be set by the user to control IM Request, IM Responses and IM Notifications

• Activate via IM – Check this option to allow remote tracking via IM

• Response to IM – This option is checked by default. This allows IM responses to be received to the same IM client that will be used by the user to send IMs containing the key phrase to the lost/stolen/misplaced device

• Notification address – Enter the GTalk/Jabber ID (in email address format) of your friend or another alternate IM client that you can use to receive IM messages containing Location information and other device parameters. IM Notifications are received only under 2 circumstances:

1. System triggers (see System trigger section)

2. SMS User Triggers (See SMS)

GTalk/Jabber Account - Ping2Locate uses the Google Account credentials provided by the user to allow lost/stolen/misplaced device to respond to incoming ping requests when contacted via remote SMS, IM and even local device triggers such as SIM card swap. The Google Account name and password is required to be provided by the user ONLY IF the user wishes to get IM responses/get notified via GTalk/Jabber.

NOTE:

Indyz Ping2Locate  recognizes the importance of not only tracking the user’s lost/misplaced device from anywhere, anytime, any device using IM for free of cost but also are sensitive to user privacy. To this end, Indyz Ping2Locate takes careful measures in making sure that the  user credentials entered in the device is kept in the device and not uploaded anywhere to our Location servers. Furthermore, we also don’t require the user to log in to the web while using the Ping2Locate Map Track feature from the web to track their lost/stolen/misplaced device.

Google account name – Provide valid Google user ID (email format) that the device will use to send GTalk/Jabber responses/notifications

Google account password -  Provide valid Google password

Here are all possible combinations of Responses triggered from IM.

Email - Ping2Locate allows users to be notified via Email using its Email feature..

Allow Email for Notification – When checked, the Ping2Locate app allows the device to send emails to a pre set email address. The email contains the URL (“tracking URL”) for tracking the lost/stolen/misplaced device in real time.

Email notification address – The email address to which the tracking URL is sent to.

System Triggers

Device

• Battery Low alert – Check this box for enabling device generated triggers to be sent to SMS/Jabber notification address/phone numbers defined by user. The trigger is generated when the device phone battery charge falls below the system specified alarm threshold (15%)

• SIM Card Alert  – Check this box for enabling device generated triggers to be sent to SMS/Jabber notification address/phone numbers defined by user

Note: The SIM card alert is triggered when the SIM card is either removed or replaced.

Location server

Location Upload to server – Check this box to allow Ping2Locate Cloud service to offer tracking the device on a map on the web.

Note: Only Location and device parameters such as Phone IMEI, Home/Roaming Operator, Latitude/Longitude etc will be uploaded. To this end, Indyz Ping2Locate takes careful measures in making sure that the  user credentials entered in the device is kept in the device and not uploaded anywhere to our Location servers. Furthermore, we also don’t require the user to log in to the web while using the Ping2Locate Map Track feature from the web to track their lost/stolen/misplaced device. .

Alert Actions – Ping2Locate allows remote alarming via its Audio Alarm Alert.

• Battery Low Alert - Check this box to allow Ping2Locate service to invoke remote distress alarm.

To generate a remote Audio Alarm alert the user needs to send a special word “alert” to be sent along with the kephrase.  For more details see User Guide (PDF)

e..g,

• “pinecheese alert” or

• “alert pinecheese” or

• “You have to be alert before crossing the road to get to the pinecheese restaurant”

• A sentence of your choice in the IM/SMS body containing the kephrase and the word “alert” anywhere in the body

No double quotes needed of course!
